What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal at Premier Skin Clinic uses the Forever Bare BBL laser to significantly reduce hair growth. The laser targets and destroys hair follicles with a concentrated beam of light, without harming the surrounding skin. The light is absorbed by pigment in the hair (melanin) and converted to heat, damaging the hair follicle.
The treatment is semi-permanent, with minimal maintenance treatments required over time. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair, but it can be successfully used on all skin and hair types.
How does laser hair removal work?
First, our team at Premier will meet with you for a consultation to discuss the laser hair removal process and your individualized treatment plan. Once you schedule your first laser hair removal session, you will receive a list of pre-treatment recommendations designed to give you effective results and minimize recovery time.
At your laser hair removal appointment, your practitioner will begin by cleansing the treatment area. Your provider will then begin treatment, which involves one quick pass over the skin with our Forever Bare BBL device.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Laser hair removal does cause discomfort, but many people find it to be less uncomfortable than other forms of hair removal, such as waxing. Our laser hair removal device includes a cooling unit for added comfort so topical numbing cream is rarely necessary.
What parts of my body can you perform laser hair removal on?
Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any area of the body, including: legs, underarms, arms, bikini area, chest, shoulders, back, and face, including lip and chin. Laser hair removal cannot be performed on the eyelid or surrounding area and is not suitable for tattooed areas of skin.
How long does laser hair removal take?
In-office laser hair removal is quick and comfortable. The Forever Bare BBL laser requires just one pass per treatment, so treatment time depends on the amount of skin being treated. We can perform laser hair removal on areas as small as the upper lip or as large as your entire back, or even multiple areas in one session.
Recovery usually takes less than one day. Three to five treatments are required for initial laser hair removal, and results are gradual as hair will continue to fall out over time. Minimal maintenance treatments are required over time to maintain permanent results.
