Janelle recently sat for an interview to talk about her roles at Premier, the procedures she can’t live without, and what she loves about her job.
Q: What is your role at Premier?
I am a nurse practitioner specializing in dermatology. Right now, I’m doing primarily lasers. I am trained on injectables as well. I am most excited about our dermatology office opening in Premier Skin Clinic – it’s opening March 1!
Q: When and how did you start working for Premier Skin Clinic?
I wanted to try Botox, and ultimately chose Chrissy from Premier Skin Clinic for my first session. While I was in the office, I saw that they were hiring a nurse practitioner. I applied in summer 2021, and got the job!
Q: Why would you recommend Premier Skin Clinic to those looking for skincare products and medical procedures?
Premier focuses on the medical side of skincare. Everyone who works here has a medical degree, and we try to give realistic expectations based on our clients’ goals. We can recommend different medical-grade treatments including lasers, injectables, facials, and more. Our goal is to put people on a regimen that will last a lifetime, so we can both achieve and maintain their goals.
Q: What are some common misconceptions about medical spas?
I hear a lot about pushy sales, and concerns that everyone who goes in [to a medical spa] comes out looking plastic. It’s not about that here. It’s about making it long-lasting. Skincare is something that, once you reach your goal, you should just be able to maintain with the right regimen. You should look very natural.
Q: What do you like best about your job?
Helping people reach their goals! It’s so nice to see someone’s self-esteem boosted and their confidence return. I see a lot of middle-aged patients who are starting to date again, and something like a laser treatment really spruces up their confidence. It’s very rewarding for me.
Q: What product or service could you NOT live without?
That’s a tough one. I really like the BBL [laser treatment] for age prevention and repairing sun damage. But I also couldn’t live without Botox and filler. Once you’ve started, you’ll always want to maintain those results. I’ll never forget the first time I had Botox – I was like, “Oh my goodness! I can’t believe this is me!”
Q: Any reflections on 2021 in the skincare business?
Premier did well during the pandemic – we really tried to offer a relaxing outlet for people when everything was going on while still maintaining a safe environment for our clients and staff.
We did have some clients decline to come into the office, and we support that; we want everyone to do what’s right for themselves and their families. But we do have a very loyal client base, and we had a lot of clients continue to come in and refer their friends and family.
Q: What are you most excited about in 2022? Any new skincare trends we should know about?
Well, of course, I am excited about opening our in-office dermatology clinic. There have been a lot of medical revolutions in the dermatology world the past few years. I am excited to work with the local community, sharing these new techniques and making everyone’s skin happy and healthy!
