GET TO KNOW CHRISSY, PREMIER’S INJECTABLES NURSE

Have you received injectables, like Botox, dermal fillers, and microneedling, at Premier Skin Clinic? If so, you may have seen Chrissy Lorenzen, one of our injectables pros at Premier.

Chrissy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Arizona and Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University. She has over 10 years of nursing experience and extensive training in the art of injecting.

Chrissy sat for an interview to talk about her role in the clinic, her favorite procedures and products, and goals for 2022.

Q: What is your role at Premier?

I am a nurse injector, and I do a few aesthetic services as well. My primary focus is injectables like Botox, dermal fillers, PDO threads, and microneedling.

Q: When and how did you start working for Premier Skin Clinic?

I started [at Premier] three and a half years ago. I actually found out [about Premier] from a neighbor who was getting injections and I decided to try Botox for the first time. I met the nurse injector, and she had previously been an ICU nurse – and I was an ICU nurse – and we hit it off.

I was really curious about the industry. I never knew it was an avenue I could take in nursing. She called me a few weeks later and said Premier was considering hiring another injector, part time. I asked what I needed to do, and she told me where to go to get certified. I did it that weekend, came back the following week to interview, and was hired. It was just meant to be!

Since then, I’ve done tons of training and become an advanced injector. It’s easy to dive in when you’re doing something you love.

Q: Why would you recommend Premier Skin Clinic to those looking for skincare products and medical procedures?

We are a true medical spa, meaning we have medical grade equipment. The Quickerts (owners Timo and Julie) have gone out of their way to research and find the best, and that’s what they carry. I see our spa as a place where you get true medical procedures, and you see results.

Our medical thinking means we care about the safety of our clients, educating them, and achieving realistic results. We educate before each procedure about the Whos, Whys, and Whats, so clients know what they can expect. We also take more time with our appointments, and I appreciate that. We don’t make people feel rushed, we listen.

We all genuinely care about our clients and are willing to take that extra time in appointments to listen and come up with plans for the future. Even though we make commissions, we are not salespeople – we are nurses first. We don’t have quotas we have to meet. I think that sets us apart.

Q: What are some common misconceptions about medical spas?

People can be intimidated by it; it’s kind of scary to walk in and see the equipment. I would want people to know that every person is unique, and what option works best for you is unique, and we are willing to find that for them. As an injector, I find people are worried about looking fake. It costs an astronomical amount of money to look fake, so I try to reassure my clients. In our area, clients want to age gracefully, and that’s my focus. I’m not trying to make a 40-year-old look 20. Once people start, they realize it can be done very tastefully.

Q: What do you like best about your job?

My clients! We have incredible clients, men and women, that I am honored that they’re choosing us. I look forward to my day. I see who’s on my schedule and I get excited. Coming from the ICU, it was hard for me initially to understand the value of what I was doing in aesthetics. But what I learned over the first 6 months was that what I was doing was helping other men and women be confident in themselves, so they could go out and be superheroes in the world.

Q: What product or service could you NOT live without?

Oh gosh, there’s a few. I may be biased, but I would say my favorites are Botox, dermal filler, and micro needling.

Q: Any reflections on 2021 in the skincare business?

The hard part was keeping the spa safe and making everyone feel comfortable. The other side of that is Zoom really helped our business. People came in after seeing themselves on their Zoom calls – when you have to look at yourself talk day after day. It’s been an interesting year. I was pleasantly surprised at how busy we stayed. I think that goes back to our clients – how great they are, and how much they value what we do.

Q: What are you most excited about in 2022? Any new skincare trends we should know about?

We have a new laser treatment this year, and I’m hoping to learn lasers this year. I just finished another injector training last month. After focusing on injectables, I’m excited to take it to the next level and provide more opportunities for clients. I love education. I’m always learning. I think the moment we stop learning, we stop living.

When it comes to trends, there is always something new, and I have to feel it out and educate myself to see if it’s right for my clients. I want to see how it works, see if other people are getting results and if it will be worth it for my clients.

I love that about Julie and Timo (Quickert, owners of PSC) as well. They really do their research before adding something to our service list just to make money. It’s all about the clients.
