Susan hails from California and moved to Colorado in 2021. She graduated from nursing school in 2004 and worked as a nurse in some of Los Angeles’s best hospitals.
In 2008, she moved to Orange County and began working at Mission Hospital and the University of California Irvine where she began special training for wound care in addition to the trauma unit while in critical care at UCI Medical Center. She continued to care for burn victims in the burn ICU and here developed an interest in dermatology.
Susan graduated from The College of Medical Aesthetics in 2008, while there she received special certifications in Botox and derma fillers, lasers and phototherapy, as well as Biostimulators. She continued her advanced aesthetic education alongside plastic surgeons, attending many workshops, courses, training, and conferences.
Susan loves the science and the results of aesthetic medicine, which drives her to continually practice good medicine. She often states, “Looking good starts with feeling good,” and, “Love it? Keep it. Hate it? Change it.”
Susan recently sat for an interview to talk about her extensive training, what she loves about working with patients, and what she’s most looking forward to in her new position at Premier Skin Clinic.
Q: How did you come to work for Premier Skin Clinic?
I learned about Premier from a friend who used to work here and thought I’d be a good fit based on my personality and career experience. I was looking for a luxury med spa, and the equipment, atmosphere, and staff at Premier were very similar to what I was used to when I worked at a plastic surgeon’s office in California.
When I met with [the owner] Chrissy, we had similar ICU backgrounds and both value safety, and with our empathy and compassion for clients, we just had an instant connection.
Q: What is your role at Premier?
I enjoy lasers more than anything else. I love to see whole facial transformations and rejuvenation. I prefer Biostimulators to promote longevity, so clients look better longer. Lasers can affect the cells, how they grow, and stimulate collagen production.
Q: Why would you recommend Premier Skin Clinic to those looking for skincare products and medical procedures?
The luxury atmosphere that also encompasses the most caring practitioners I’ve come across in a long time. They really listen to the clients and have the knowledge base and practice experience to accomplish what the client wants. They are skilled, and they’re safe. Q: What are some common misconceptions about medical spas?
That people look fake when they leave.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The way people feel about themselves when they look the way they want. You feel good when you look good. I’ve had so many people cry after we get them where they want to be. People get emotional when we are able to accomplish what they’ve always desired.
Q: What product or service could you NOT live without?
The Sciton BBL and Biostimulators. I can deal with wrinkles, but I can’t deal with loss of collagen. That is the one thing that can fix wrinkles down the road. It can address the arms, the chest, the neck, the face, and it can keep you looking 10 years younger while you age.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working at Premier?
Being able to work with people who have the same (or more) knowledge as me. These are people I can form treatment plans with, who are just as skilled and technical as I am. I can work with the nurse practitioners here, the estheticians here, and create a full, comprehensive treatment plan for my clients. Weight loss, hormones, skin rejuvenation, body contouring – It’s comprehensive care, and Premier is one of the few clinics that offers that. It is all-encompassing self-care.
Q: What are you most excited about going into 2023? Any new skincare trends we should know about?
The ability to look better longer and more naturally is what I’m all about, and that is very popular right now. With the right practitioner using the right techniques, people achieve amazing results. The technology of the lasers we have now means it’s safe for people to continue collagen treatment for longer.
