Meet Kelly, Medical Aesthetic RN
Our newest staff member at Premier Skin Clinic, Kelly Wiechert, is a medical aesthetic registered nurse with many areas of skin care expertise.
Kelly provides skin care and aesthetic services including microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and custom facials. She is also a certified injector and provides injections, fillers, and microneedling.
Kelly received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from The University of Northern Colorado and Bachelors of Science in Health and Exercise – Sports Medicine from Colorado State University. She has been in healthcare for over 25 years, with 16 years in critical care and 12 years in leadership positions.
She has lived here in Fort Collins for most of her life, and enjoys paddle boarding, boating, skiing, and walking her dog in the great outdoors.
Kelly recently sat for an interview to talk about her position at our clinic, how she got started in the industry, and what she’s most looking forward to this year at Premier Skin Clinic.
Q: What is your role at Premier?
I am a registered nurse certified in injectables, including neurotoxins like Botox and dermal fillers. I also do all things aesthetics, including microneedling, facials, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, chemical peels, and lasers including laser hair reduction, BBL, and halo.
Q: When and how did you start working for Premier Skin Clinic?
I started working for Premier in October [2021]. I transitioned out of the hospital after 16 years as a critical care nurse. Aesthetics has appealed to me for the past several years, so I got my certifications about a year ago, then started pursuing a career in skincare.
Since October, I have also earned my specialist and expert certifications in the ZO skincare line we carry [at Premier], and I am finishing my aesthetician courses so I will have that certification.
Q: Why would you recommend Premier Skin Clinic to those looking for skincare products and medical procedures?
Premier was attractive to me because it is truly a medical-based spa. I have found in this industry that there are so many spas, medical and non-medical, that don’t have the same standards.
The staff here are medical professionals, and the equipment is highly researched and clinically studied, as are the products. Skincare products are the foundation of anything in aesthetics, and the fact that we carry a line that is clinically studied and medical grade appeals to a lot of people.
We are all medical professionals who have worked in that industry, and we take that approach with our clients, to consult them and educate them. We realize that every single client has different goals, and we go through that process with them – to be sure each treatment is right for them and they get the result they want.
We are not rushed, and we do not have quotas. Every client is individual, and we take the time we need to make it right for them.
Q: What are some common misconceptions about medical spas?
The biggest in my experience is that people don’t want to look fake, and they see aesthetic medical services on TV which are always so extreme, so there is a huge misconception around that.
People can be intimidated by the growth of this industry; there is always new technology and services. We want to provide the best treatment for each individual who comes through our door, and we realize that what is best for one person is not necessarily best for the next.
Q: What do you like best about your job?
I like most that no two days are alike. Every day brings an opportunity to educate, to learn, to grow. I admire that every patient is unique and different in their own way, and that we have an opportunity to invest our time and artistic ability into their goals. It’s fun to build that relationship with each client and know that you are impactful in their life.
Q: What product or service could you NOT live without?
I would have to say our skincare products, because skincare is foundational. I see very real and visible results with a regimented, very basic skincare line. Microneedling is also great – I have had just one session myself so far, but the results I see in my clients are just astounding. I’m excited to try more of our services in the coming months!
Q: What are you most excited about in 2022? Any new skincare trends we should know about?
I’m hoping 2022 is a very exciting year! I’m eager to learn about new treatments, trends, and opportunities, and always educating our clients on the options available to them and that it doesn’t have to be a huge expense. We just want to help them develop a treatment plan.
I love that our clients are there because they want to be there, and they want to learn about and try these new treatments. I just want everyone to feel relaxed, renewed, and rejuvenated every time they come in.
