Nurse Practitioner at Premier Skin Clinic

Welcome Melanie!

Aesthetics / February 1, 2023
Our newest staff member at Premier Skin Clinic, Melanie Zimmerman, is a nurse practitioner with extensive training in many areas of skincare, hormone optimization, and wellness.Melanie will offer facial anatomy assessments, neuromodulator injections, dermal fillers, facial enhancements, hormone services, and more at our clinic starting February 1.

Melanie was born and raised in Fort Collins and received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Colorado State University. Melanie received her BSN at the University of Texas and began working as a registered nurse.

In 2015, her long-time interest in aesthetics prompted her to begin attending facial injecting courses around the country. She has been trained and certified by various national and international renowned providers in the aesthetic industry.

In her free time, Melanie enjoys live music and good food, spending time with her animals and her husband, and visiting with her niece and other extended family. She also loves to travel.

Melanie recently sat for an interview to talk about her extensive training, what she loves about working with patients, and what she’s most looking forward to in her new position at Premier Skin Clinic.

Q: When and how did you start working for Premier Skin Clinic?

I started my medical aesthetic career in Houston, over seven years ago now. I moved back to Colorado five years ago and kept hearing about Premier from Jenny [Harrison, also a nurse practitioner at Premier Skin Clinic] and bumping into Chrissy [Lorenzen] at various trainings.

So, it was on my radar, and somehow they felt my energy and asked if I would be interested in joining the team at Premier. It’s all kind of fallen into place, and it’s just been amazing.

Q: What is your role at Premier?

I’ll be a nurse injector and aesthetic medical provider. I’ll be offering facial antomy assessments, injections, laser treatments, facial enhancements, hormone optimization, and using my training in hormone replacement therapy and weight loss to promote clients’ overall wellness.

Q: Why would you recommend Premier Skin Clinic to those looking for skincare products and medical procedures?

I like that Premier focuses on quality versus quantity. It’s not about numbers, or competing with the other medical spas in town. It’s about meeting the patient where they’re at and guiding them through their journey. Everything is very individual and specific to the patient.

It’s also a one-stop-shop for a patient, where we will treat everything from head to toe.

Q: What are some common misconceptions about medical spas?

That we’re here to change how you look – that you will leave looking like a different person, rather than enhancing who you really are. Patients are afraid of not being heard, and I think that does happen in the industry – that is something I strive never to do.

My approach is to use your own natural beauty, what you already have, and enhance that instead of changing it.

Q: What do you like best about your job?

I love the relationships – whenever a patient comes to me and says things like, “ I trust you, you’re not going to sell me something I don’t need,” or, “You really listened to me and guided me in the right direction.” I will turn people down when there is a place to turn people down – I’m not going to do something that’s not right for them just to make a sale. I’ve been told that I’m “conservative but effective,” and I love hearing that from my patients.

My patients are also not just my patients. I have relationships with them. When people tell me they trust me to steer them in the right direction, that’s rewarding to me. That is the most satisfying part of my job.

Q: What product or service could you NOT live without?

If I had to have just one thing, it would be quality, medical-grade skincare. To me, that’s the foundation for everything. No matter what you’re doing, that’s where you start.

Q: What are you most looking forward to about working at Premier?

The environment and the positive culture that I’ve already experienced with the ladies who work at the clinic is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced – the welcoming atmosphere and the support from empowered women.

I’m really looking forward to collaborating with a team of strong women. It’s so fun and so uplifting.

Q: What are you most excited about going into 2023? Any new skincare trends we should know about?

I think that people are moving toward more natural looks and taking foundational approaches. People want to know how to build collagen, how to change the structure of the skin without putting something into it or doing anything invasive.

Building collagen is a popular approach with young people, and those in middle age are seeing the benefits and jumping on that bandwagon as well. I love it, because I’m all about treating foundational issues instead of doing a Band-Aid fix. It’s all about natural approaches and changing skin from the inside out.
